Montorsaio è una piccola frazione del Comune di Campagnatico in provincia di Grosseto. Il borgo sorge a 384 m. s.l.m. su un poggio tra boschi di macchia mediterranea, castagneti e olivi ed è sicuramente un posto da visitare per chi trascorre del tempo in Maremma.
Nel periodo del Paleolitico accolse nelle sue grotte i Neandertaliani testimoniato dal ritrovamento di resti fossili di orso, corvo e di una cena consumata. In particolare, nella Buca dei Pipistrelli, una grotta che si sviluppa per circa 30 metri di profondità furono ritrovati reperti faunistici, ceramici e alcuni reperti umani.
Montorsaio ha vissuto una ricca storia medievale legata alla famiglia degli Aldobrandeschi possessori della corte di Campagnatico di cui ne ha seguito le sorti. Ne rendono testimonianza sia il convento di San Benedetto alla Nave – poi chiuso – che la sua chiesa dei santi Cerbone e Michele.

Montorsaio is a small hamlet of the municipality of Campagnatico, in the province of Grosseto. The village stands at 384 metres over sea level on a hill among Mediterranean woods, olive trees and chestnut trees, and it is definitely a place to visit for those who spend time in Maremma.
During the Palaeolithic it welcomed the Neanderthals in its caves, a fact that is confirmed by the discovery of the fossil remains of a bear, a crow and a consumed dinner. In particular, in the hole of bats, a cave that develops for approximately 30 metres of depth, some faunal, ceramic and human evidence were found.
Montorsaio has lived a rich medieval history linked to the Aldobrandeschi family, owner of the Campagnatico court, of which it then followed the fate. The convent of S. Benedetto alla Nave –now closed – and its church of the saints Cerbone and Michele offer a testimony of that history.
